The Saturn air ring is the only cooling ring, which works with low-pressure air; resulting in less energy consumption and lower temperature. Also, the Saturn is the only cooling ring, that can be regulated in three different ways for best results.

A. The cone can be turned down and up, regulating the lower air-entry. The lower entry is to allow as little air as possible to the still hot film in order to build a 'skin' on the film.
If too much air is present, there will be no room for the air to escape between the cone and the bubble. The Bubble will then start to 'flatter'. To prevent this, you should turn down the cone a quarter or a half turn (with other cooling rings, you would have to reduce the rate of production).

B. With the normal lipset you allow a large amount of air (of low pressure) to carry the air away at high speed. This gives you a fast way of cooling and a clear quality of film.
Because of the faster Cooling-effect, you can speed-up your line and obtain higher production-rates (from 10 to 30% and often more).

C. With the so-called Chimney (the upper ring), you can regulate the Blow-Up-Ratio's more sofically. With a Saturn in place you can obtain BUR's as low as 1 to 1 and as high as 5 to 1.
